What's your Happy Place?

What's your Happy Place?

This title will be a heavy Happy Gilmore pun I hope you appreciate as much as I love referencing. These last couple of weeks I have gotten back to the little things that bring me so much joy which then left me questioning myself as to why I ever stopped these activities? I could self-reflect on this topic for awhile but I'll digress and focus on the benefits I have seen and challenge you to find those little things that you do for yourself and no one else that bring you joy.

My happy place:
1. I have started going to the driving range again! Sadly no bombs have been dropped and my only excitement is coming from a shot thats not shanked right but small steps of improvements are being seen so I'll call it a big win!
2. I stopped doing the dreaded treadmill cardio and went back to agility work on the soccer field. This, this brings me big joy! I'll likely never go and play pick-up soccer again but being on the field brings me just as much satisfaction.
3. I started hiking the coast again and discovering little towns in Oregon that I have yet to see. I talked to locals at coffee shops and listened to an older man go on about a boat he built as his eyes radiated with excitement. The conversation was engaging and mutually beneficial as he then filled me in on all of the local spots to hit along the northern coast that many miss.
4. I started using my good lotion and lighting the nice candles, you know.. the ones you save for special occasions to minimize and ration the use. This ones interesting... I was inspired by a quote I will leave below for you to reference and maybe it'll speak to you as much as it did me. Mostly making me realize that if something as simple as this can bring me so much joy, why would I ever choose to not do it?

These 4 items listed above are simple. They are fairly inexpensive and are things I do just for myself. They make me happy. They bring me into my best life. So now I challenge each of you to think back on something that you used to do that brought you joy and bring it back. Find and create your happy place.
